Any bets on when Roberto overtakes Rob?

It will never happen...Roberto is down almost 150 cards. Do you know how long it takes to find 150 cards that you need once you get to the point where we are?? Not to mention how unbelievably expensive it will be??

Also, It is not like Rob is just going to stop adding cards so Roberto has to make up all of that ground too.

Like I said...not gonna happen.

I think it will happen because Roberto seems willing to pay for the cards.

Six months ago, did you think he would ever catch you?

As of today:

Rob 3980
Roberto 3835

145 Cards

Nothing wrong with a little competition. Never say never when all it takes is money.

delete the oddball list! and he is 220 BASEBALL CARDS back.it is a fact that he could pass me.if he can find the cards.not cups, books, and posters.but good luck finding them.there are 7 from burbank we both need! but at $1800? i do not think so.Roberto good luck to you.finding cards we need is like finding a needle in a hay stack.if i was worried about him passing me i would not have helped in with over 1000 cards in the last year and a half.and i just got 7 more he needs.if some one has the time i would like to know how many diff every put together has? bet it would be close to over 90% thats AWESOME!P.S. thats whats wrong with the gov today! just throw money at the problem!

if you are throwing money around, I would sell my entire collection for $10k. That would add to anyones collection. Until then, I will still be adding as often as I can. I am creeping up there with almost 100 new ones on the way (thanks Rob & Burbank). I should be at 3000 by the end of the month. Just 2400 more to go. Give me 6 weeks (lol)

They say that the aqueous versions have a more glossy finish. I can tell only a slight difference.

I'd say that as a group we have well over 90% of the different Juans and that may be including the 1 of 1's...while I agree a little competition is fun...I have other priorities that are more important then becoming #1 or even #4 on the list...the best thing about this site to me is being able to look at some of the Juan's I'll never be able to get/afford.I also feel like I've made some good friends here...I continue to add to my collection knowing I'll never pass anyone already in front of me on the list...if it was all about competition...I'd give up and sell my collection now...

Kevin

PS...my collection is NOT for sale

Kevin,

I like your attitude. That is why I only claim to have 538 cards. I collect because I want to collect and I don't really care if all of you have more cards than me. In fact I would not mind being at the bottom of the list. This is a card board hobby for enjoyment as far as I am concerned. I also do not jump around from player to player. Only Juan more card to go!

Chris,

Who are you kidding. If you sold your collection this week, then next week you would start to collect Juan Gonzalez all over again. I am not so sure that you would not sell the cards just to start all over again. As an example, how many duplicates did you use to have? If you get out of the game for a week, sell me the Footlocker card.

I would not ever sell off a piece of the collection. I actually spend more of my Hank Blalock collection than my on my Juan's. It is more fun as the competition is not as high. I have 148 true 1/1 Blalock's and can usually get them for less than $40 with plates selling for around $20.
My Juan doubles have always fluttered in numbers as I would trade or sell them to anyone. I try not to add any extras at this point. This site has been good to track what I need.
If I were to ever sell out my Juans, I would not start collecting him again. Its easy to make an offer to sell knowing there isnt a buyer and it isnt going anywhere.

I could buy about 650 PSA 10's for $9999 if Rob doesn't jack the price up. I think that I would rather have the PSA 10's at this stage.

I think that I would rather have the PSA 10's at this stage.sorry,i do not JACK the price up! i see a card i would like to have and i bid.if i win the card for the price i have in mind then thats GREAT! if not, well then maybe next time i will get it at that price.some times i rarely bid more than once on a card i would like to have.you will not see me bid more than 4 times on the same auction.I NEVER HAVE!
i have seen some people with 10-15 bids on the same auction.thats nutz!just remember you just got SNIPED!

I go back and forth on bidding habits...... Sometimes, I just bid once. It just depends on how cool and rare the card is.
