I figured out, Jonas, that if you take out the 16 one of one's in 2000 then together we have 90% of the cards in 2000. Pretty cool.

jzk_ksy 07-04-2007 02:08 AM

I just came across something pretty unique...I've got the packet that Topps sent to dealers(I think) about the release of the 1998 series one product that features Juan on the cover and inside it has a 8" by 40" poster that is titled own the game should it be added?I'll try to upload some pics later....

KEVIN

jjt111 07-04-2007 02:16 AM

8" X 40" wow...... long poster.

jzk_ksy 07-04-2007 02:21 AM

Its actually almost like a magazine pullout...kinda like 4 8 by 10's but no staple holesthe folder is pretty cool to has Juan on front and Clemente on back...also contains a 8 by 10 page that has a pic of juan and everything that you can find in the 1998 topps series one...

Kevin

Gonzaleznut 07-04-2007 04:11 AM

I have it too. It goes great right above a door.

jzk_ksy 07-05-2007 02:13 AM

Here are the pics that I promised....think it should be added?

jzk_ksy 07-09-2007 01:18 PM

Any opinions on whether or not the folder and poster for the 1998 series one topps should get added?.I think it is pretty unique and Mike also says he has it too...

Kevin

I don't think it should be added and I will tell you why...Posters and magazines are a completely different category of collectible. Freddie had once said that he was going to divide the mainstream cards, etc. from the oddball stuff out there.

Until that happens I think that we should keep this kind of "print" stuff separate.

It is still a great item though Kevin.

jzk_ksy 07-09-2007 03:44 PM

I'm ok either way..I just think it should be added as it is from a card company...we have the 1995 micro stars stars listed(which I also have) and is neither a card or from a card company...I do agree we can't list everything as there are pennants, posters, bobbleheads, slu's(which are listed),mags, pens, cups, and so much more...but I feel anything from a card company should be listed...

It's a fine line and one I'm glad I don't have to make the call on. There is just too many things out there. Once we cover what it on the list with a picture and someone has it maybe we can open things up. Here is something I think is cool I got a while back from 2002..... I think.

Kevin.... your card count has passed mine:( Congrats!:D

Jonas, you should be able to shoot back past Kevin with the box of cards that I sent you.

Another addition.

I know it is 1991, but it doesn't have a brand or number on it.

Is that a magazine card?

jjt111 07-17-2007 03:11 AM

I have it but I think we will need Akar's help for the label. I see it is on his list maybe he'll know more.

Help us again Akar!

You guys that live in Texas have a huge advantage, I'm thinking. The closest shop from me is 20 miles and the first one that know of Juan is around 50 miles!
Come on, disclose your sources!

:)

Actually, you would probably be surprised. I can't tell you the last time I bought a Juan card from a local card shop or show. It has been years!! There aren't any more good shops around here either.

I got that one of one from eBay Buy it Now for $34.95. Some collectors don't consider it a true 1/1, but I do.

jjt111 07-19-2007 04:02 AM

It would have to be as it was made just for the show. Not like they pulled one off the line and embossed it like years past!

I only live 2 miles from the Texas border, but that's certainly no advantage. The closest shop to me is 120 miles away, in Lubbock Tx, and he doesn't have any singles, only wax. The closest REAL card shop to me is 300+ miles away, in Albuquerque.

There's more than just ebay and Beckett, though. I got the Cardfrontations plate from the guy who runs pressplate.net, and there's also naxcom.com, sportscardforum.com, and bidville.com.

Flame me if you want, but I gave him $150 for it. Yes, I know that is way more than it would be on ebay, but I tried to negotiate with him and found his asking price to be quite firm. That's also what he wants for his '97 New Pinnacle Interleague Encounter plate of Juan. I just really thought it would be a unique addition to my collection and had the extra cash, so I decided to splurge.

That sound you hear is me choking...that is a lot for a press plate. Although I do have to say that it is an awesome item.

jjt111 07-19-2007 05:54 AM

Just pure envy from me.

No, adding that cards opens up a large can of worms.

nosterbor 07-22-2007 05:49 PM

diddo!

Gonzaleznut 07-27-2007 10:41 PM

We have added another card to 1998. The Collector's Choice card #245 actually has a variation with card #1. Everything else is the same. It might be a Rangers Team version??

jjt111 07-28-2007 05:58 AM

When did that 1999 Stadium Club Photography stuff get put on the list. It's not on my mirror copy of this list?

That was a good catch on the 98 CC card if the only thing that is different is the number! Thanks for the update!

The 1999 Stadium Club Photography is an 11 x 14 photo framed by Topps and sent to you if you gave them $19.95 back in '99.

P.S. There are two variations of the Redemption booklet that were inserted in packs with Juan and other players pictured on them. They have also been aded to the list.

As far as the 98 CC...ther is also a difference in the hologram on the back. One (#245) is a baseball infield and the other (#1) is a diamond.

jjt111 07-28-2007 06:30 AM

Wow a whole bunch added. I had both #7 1998 Team Pinnacles. As nice as that log is I liked the additions going through this thread. No way do I have the time to go through every log entry to check for cards I need to be watching for. I will always feel a card should be presented to be entered before actual entered to the list. That way everyone will feel and have a valued opinion and voice.

jjt111 07-28-2007 06:33 AM

All the CC of that year except the #245 regular and jumbo was diamond shape.

You are right. I stand corrected on that point. The only difference is the card number.

I agree, you should be discussing any additions to the list before adding them.

That stadium club stuff needs discussion. What is this stuff exactly and why does it belong on the list?
