Collection Pictures are functional now

The card list now supports the addition of unlimited pictures per card now. If you have pictures to submit, please attach them to a post and I'll move them to the proper card.

Mike, if you would like to add pictures directly, I can give you access to do so. You can even input picture urls directly from eBay and have them copied over.

Gonzaleznut 09-17-2006 11:29 PM

I will get on that as soon as possible. Another good idea would be to go to beckett.com and you will be able to get a ton of pictures there.

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 12:43 AM

Did you see all of the pictures I have added in the last hour?

freddie 09-18-2006 12:45 AM

No, haven't been on the site. I'll need to add something to the main page that points out listings with new images or a feature to just list cards with pictures.

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 12:48 AM

You might put something next to the year that shows the number of pics in that year.

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 12:55 AM

What is the best way to upload a pic directly from a website like beckett or eBay?

Just right click the image to gets its url. Paste the url of the picture into the last input box on the input form, the option titled "Upload File from a URL".

Tomorrow I'll see about adding a counter of pictures next to each year as well as adding a "Gallery" option where you can just run through the images of pictures like the current gallery of Juan's pictures.

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 04:11 AM

I must have added over 120 pictures tonight. This is going to take forever, but when it is done it will be cool. It will almost be like having your very own virtual collection.

How long do you think it will take?

It took me several hours to do 120.

freddie 09-18-2006 05:37 AM

I think it would take a very long time considering all of the common cards. We can shoot for 100% but I don't think it is realistic. Just add a few a day and be content with it is my goal. If I see something rare pop up on eBay, take the picture since I might not see it again and focus on the legwork of all the commons.

freddie 09-18-2006 05:46 AM

I think you have the wrong picture on

2004 Donruss Timelines Material

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 01:20 PM

Yeah...my bad. Can you move the pic to the 2004 Timber & Threads Bat card?

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 01:36 PM

I am finding that a lot of the pictures on Beckett.com are grainy. I am not uploading the image if it is not pretty crisp. I also cannot figure out a way to get the back of the card to copy over.

I feel that it is important to get a pic up for each card, then we can go through and replace bad pics with better scans. What do you think?

freddie 09-18-2006 02:46 PM

THere is no facility to move pics, you'll have to save it and upload it to the correct card. I don't understand what you mean about the back of the card?

freddie 09-18-2006 02:55 PM

mcabee1, aircorp42k, garydvegas, pjvolpert, adelith, angel-415, nosterbor, nojuice4igor

Actually, nojuice4igor, did respond that the list would be useful. I didn't solicit any thing from them, just informed them of the site.

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 09:18 PM

http://i4.ebayimg.com/04/i/06/73/73/b0_1.JPG

I can't find this on the list. I have 2 of them actually.

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 09:19 PM

So...how am I doing? I think I have put over 300 pics on there today. Let me know what you think.

Gonzaleznut 09-18-2006 09:30 PM

Go look at the pic for 2002 Fleer Genuine Bat's Incredible. You will see that there is a game-used version and a non game-used version. Both should be on the list.

I have one of those also. I'll see where it should be as I still need to separate the list into cards and oddballs.

Yeah, great work, you are a mad man. I've not had any time to add cards.

Fixed.

freddie 09-19-2006 05:58 PM

Great work on the pictures. I'll add a gallery interface for viewing the images when I can. I've also just added a bit to track who uploaded the picture so we can see who is doing all of the work.

Would be nice if we could get some of the other collector's to help out. I will try contacting them one more time and enlighted them to what we are working on here.

Gonzaleznut 09-19-2006 07:26 PM

I am shocked that you haven't gotten a better response from them. I got a great one on my website and yours is much more functional and user-friendly than mine. I will email them too and get them to come check it out.

freddie 09-19-2006 07:31 PM

Maybe they don't want to share their collecting information?

I did just contact them all again, further explaining the list, the goal with the pictures, welcoming any assistance.

freddie 09-19-2006 07:35 PM

I think I am going to alter the list a bit in terms of the pictures. All cards will have a link to their picture page. If the card has a picture then the small picture icon will still be on the list. The picture page will display the pictures, if any, if none then just display a "No Picture" image. The page will list the current info (title, price, etc) and will also list which collector's have the card and how many.

With this change, we can get every card indexed by google easier since the title of the page will be the card's year/title.

I have found that to be the case with a few of them. Especially the Puerto Rico collectors. I don't know why...it's not like I am going to fly down there to steal their collections.

I also just sent emails to adelith, mcabee1, nosterbor, and juanfan19.

I'll let you know if I hear anything.

How much traffic are you seeing? Lots of hits?

You must have quite a bit of bandwidth and server space to hold this site.

Not seeing a lot of traffic, just you, me and search engines for the most part. A few hits from My Ebay page, the site isn't in any of the search engine indexes yet so that explains the low traffic.

Gonzaleznut 09-19-2006 10:17 PM

How does that process work? How long does it usually take to be picked up by the search engines?

freddie 09-19-2006 10:18 PM

A few weeks to a few months.

Gonzaleznut 09-20-2006 12:05 AM

Where did you get all of the logos for the avatars?

freddie 09-20-2006 12:06 AM

http://www.sportslogos.net/

I resized and fiddled with them in photoshop.

Gonzaleznut 09-20-2006 12:09 AM

Well they look great.

Thanks, it did take about an hour to get them resized this small and still looking ok.

Gonzaleznut 09-21-2006 02:27 AM

You need to add this card to your list:

http://www.etopps.com/IPOMarketPlace...d=R&cardside=F

I can add the pics once it is on there.

freddie 09-21-2006 06:32 AM

Oh, ok I wasn't aware of another eTopps card.

Gonzaleznut 09-21-2006 02:05 PM

I know. Most people don't know about it. You can pick it up CHEAP on eBay too. I was stupid and bought it for the initial price when it first came out.

freddie 09-21-2006 07:04 PM

What was the initial price?

Gonzaleznut 09-22-2006 02:01 AM

I think $6.50.

freddie 09-22-2006 04:53 AM

I just bid $.99 on a 2 card lot of that eTopps card and was shocked to see someone come along and bid more.

Jonas

Picture added.

Jonas, I've given you permission to add pictures. Next to each card you'll now see a http://juangonzalez.vintagegaming.or.../paperclip.gif image. Click that image to upload pictures from your computer or from another URL. Please upload quality images when you can. Don't worry about size as the system will resize any images that are too large.
