1997 Finest Refractor 150

I have two of these cards and they are different. See the scans below.
Both have Uncommon Refractor on the back. One looks like the normal finest card, while the second has a pattern over the top but has no protector. I doubt that removing the protector will reveal this pattern. Also the back also has this pattern and there is no protector there. The pattern on the back is more subtle and the scanner doesn't pick it up. Neither card is embossed.

I also have 6 of the refractors of card 212 and they all have a protector and no pattern.

Any ideas?

The "no protector" is the embossed version.

Juan's picture should be a little raised off the card.

The card is not embossed and I have the embossed 150 to compare it to.

Do either of you have any 1997 finest cards with this checkerboard pattern?

Jonas can you post a scan of the 97 Finest Embossed Refractor #150?

Perhaps I have one the topps test issue cards here, an unreleased Atomic Refractor?

A little detective work, so the embossed refractor cards do have this pattern:

So either the embossed refractor really isn't embossed or I have another error card, a "1997 Finest Embossed Refractor Unembossed (Error)".

I will scan all the finest 1997 tonight and add to the collection photos. The gold embossed refractor was one of my favorite cards.

If your embossed refractor #150 looks like my second card above then I'll have to add another unembossed error card to the list.

I loaded the pic's but some was bad and I didn't check them before I uploaded them and they need deleting so I can upload the good ones.
