As a novice time collector I am curious as to how was it determined that there are only 12 of the CMC English Leather? Was the number published in a book? Any help would be appreciated.

i have one.

I have not ever heard of a print run.... but, the story of origin (all heresay) is these were part of a boxed collection that nobody ordered due to the expense ($100 pricetag from the factory). The 800+ card set came in an actual wooden box marked w/ the English Leather logo. My guess is they made way more than 12, and somewhere out there, there are unopened complete sets just rotting away.
